The Sixteenth Charity Vienna Ball in Moscow
Dedicated to Russian Ballet
26 May 2018, Gostiny Dvor
The Charity Vienna Ball in Moscow is one of the most significant events in the world's ballroom calendar. Every year, it attracts about two thousand guests from different cities and countries.
The Sixteenth Charity Vienna Ball in Moscow will take place on 26th May 2018, in the largest hall of the Russian capital — Gostiny Dvor. 2018 is announced in Russia as the Year of the Russian Ballet. The Sixteenth Vienna Ball will be dedicated to this occasion. Therefore, instead of the traditional opera gala concert during the ball, the guests will enjoy a ballet-gala with the participation of the stars of the world ballet — Evgenia Obraztsova (Bolshoi Theatre), Kristina Shapran and Timur Askerov (Mariinsky Theatre), Natalia Somova, Georgi Smilevsky and Dmitry Sobolevsky (Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre). By tradition, the ball will be opened by 120 pairs of debutants. For them — unmarried young ladies from 16 to 23 years old and unmarried young men from 18 to 28 years — it is a great opportunity to become acquainted with the classical culture, learn to dance and make new interesting friends.
After the famous phrase "Alles Walzer" — "Everyone waltz!", the dancing debutants will be joined by guests who will dance waltzes, polkas, and gallops until midnight, followed by the famous Russian midnight quadrille, and then tango and foxtrot, jive, quick-step, cha-cha-cha, and rumba. The dance and concert program of the Ball will be accompanied by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic", the jazz orchestra "Danse-Land" conducted by Semyon Milstein, and the best Russian performers of the Latin American dances — the band "The Seven Winds" directed by Georgy Mousheyev. As always, the guests will be served an exquisite dinner.
The Vienna Ball in Moscow is a charity event. This year, the beneficiary of the ball will be the foundation "Culture for Children". The Sixteenth Vienna Ball in Moscow will be hosted by the President of the Russian Dance Union Stanislav Popov and the Russian ballerina, People's Artist of Russia Ilze Liepa.
